School Supplies... ugh

Next weekend, August 5-7, is the tax free weekend in Tennessee... a great time to purchase new school clothes and school supplies. However, most of us don't have a list from our children's teachers of what they will need. But, you can go ahead and stock up on the basics. Here's what we found today:

Office Max (Donelson): Folders w/prongs and pockets - $.01 (that's right, one cent!), limit 6. Box of 12 #2 pencils, $.10 (limit 3). Loose leaf notebook paper, 150 ct., $.10 (limit 3). I, my husband, and our oldest daughter went through line and each purchased 6 file folders, 3 boxes of pencils and 3 packs of paper... a whopping $.72... Wow! Might be enough to last through the school year. They also had wooden rulers for $.01. We bought a couple, but make sure to check the metal strip. It seemed to be loose on some of the rulers.

Target (Donelson): We didn't find a lot of great deals here today, but did find 24 count Crayola crayons for $.25 and a double pack of Target brand stick glue for $.22.

Happy deal hunting!!
Welcome to my first attempt at blogging. The idea for this blog hit me while driving down the road with my husband and children discussing how much money we had saved during our most recent shopping trip for school supplies. I thought it would be a good idea to share our "finds" with each other and share our tips for frugality.
